About
Ernest Strauhal 許志仁 (b. 2000, San Francisco) works in drawing, sculpture, and video. Influenced by environments both real and imaginary, his studio practice incorporates landscape, gesture, and chance.
Strauhal’s drawings, sculptures, and video artworks are all tied together through an intense focus on meditation and the interplay between concentration and dissociation. His sculptures and video artworks are made through gathering datasets of pictures and are manipulated using neural radiance fields along with generative adversarial networks to create enveloping visual environments.
Strauhal’s works have been exhibited at Public Space One (Iowa City), Epiphany Hall (Chicago), phonographiq (Russian Federation), Gallery 23 (New York City), Mac Fine Arts (Emeryville), Oliver Arts Center (Oakland), Currents New Media (Santa Fe), Washington Galleries (Chicago), and others. Strauhal received his B.F.A. at the California College of Arts in San Francisco, California and holds an M.F.A. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
