About

Mitch Patrick‘s @mtchptrck work examines the minutiae of image-making and photography—focusing on the smallest marks created by hand, machine, and pixels. Designing catalogs of asemic glyphs that function as an alphabet for pixels and physical mark-making systems. These systems are employed to create larger, expanded artworks through various media, including 3D printing, drawing, and animation. As a result, the viewer can explore the smallest “legible” parts of an image and experience the image itself as a whole. The subject matter referenced in the art often stems from impromptu environmental and habitual photographs taken on a phone. By working with this kind of personal, nonchalant photography, the aim is to draw attention to the disregarded images typically deemed negligible—much like the pixels in the images consumed on screens. Through this creative practice, there is a pursuit to increase the resolution and significance of the minuscule.
